As our Logos students begin the second half of their academic year they return to their studies not only for life skills that will empower them to succeed in the technical ares of life but to gain appreciation of beauty and and understanding of truth. Much of culture in our day promotes an individualistic understanding of truth and beauty which has driven our educators to focus on a specialized and skills only approach to education.
“We no longer dare to believe in beauty…”
In his book Beauty for Truth’s Sake, author Stratford Caldecott writes “Who will not admit that harmony is more beautiful than dissonance, health more beautiful than sickness, kindness more beautiful than cruelty.” He goes on to argue for the teaching of all subjects not as specialized disciplines but as means to more deeply explore truth and beauty. Love What is Beautiful
At Logos we are actively training our staff, building our curriculum and teaching our students with the objective that they learn to love what is beautiful. Our Gospel-centered Liberal Arts education gives each of our students the chance not only to learn skills but to appreciate the timeless concepts of beauty and truth on a daily basis through all the subjects.
